Rainbow Mountain Peru day hike

The rainbow mountain is the second most visited tourist destination in Cusco next to Machu Picchu. In a walk to the rainbow mountain we will discover a unique and peculiar landscape that has been formed over many years thanks to geological strata.

In the morning we depart from the city of Cusco. Long before breakfast our transport will take us south of the Cusco valley. We will arrive at the district of Cusipata. Here we will have breakfast in one of the local restaurants. After breakfast, we will continue by a local route that will mark the beginning of the walk.

Upon reaching 4500 meters above sea level, we will walk a gentle slope uphill to reach a mountain where we can see the famous mountain of colors known locally as Vinicunca. This mountain is formed due to geological strata that has gone through a long Andean geological process. After this colorful visit to more than 5 thousand meters of altitude, we will return by the same route that we walked in the morning. At the end of the walk we will take a transport towards the city of Cuzco.
